Kamal reviews recently concluded national anti-polio campaign

Islamabad: Federal Minister for health Syed Mustafa Kamal on Tuesday, today, chaired an important review huddle over the 3rd concluded national anti-polio campagin across the country.

The Prime Minister’s Focal Person for Polio Eradication, Ms. Ayesha Raza Farooq, the Special Secretary Health, Additional Secretary Health, the National Polio Coordinator, as well as representatives from WHO, UNICEF, and provincial health authorities were attended the meeting.

According to the spokesman of health ministry, the meeting reviewed the recently concluded anti polio campaign in detail and composite manner.

The spokesman apprised that the national and provincial coordinators brifed the meeting on the anti-polio measures, progress and challenges.

The briefing informed that as many as 45 million children less than five years of age administered the polio drops.

Talking on the occasion, the health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal said that safeguarding the children from polio is our collective responsibility that requires urgent and sustained efforts from all segments of society.

The Minister said that on the day of resurrection we will be answerable to God over the health of our children.

Mustafa Kamal urged the parents to proactively seek out the polio workers and ensure immunization of your children adding that don’t become enemy of your children because we are answerable in the world and hereafter.

The minister highlighted that while cancer treatment is possible, polio remains an incurable disease, reinforcing the critical need to eliminate the virus through effective vaccination campaigns.

He called for a significant policy shift to enhance campaign effectiveness and stressed the importance of unity and societal participation in this national mission.

He said that this is our country and children are the biggest responsiblity of ours. He said that if we as a nation can defeat India then we also can beat the polio.

The Minister said that Afghanistan government were holding anti-polio campagins in an impressive manner.

He said that it is his wish that the two countries could become polio free countries together.

If Palestinians are free of polio despite remaining in state of war then what we are waiting for, Kamal stressed.
