Kapil Sharma recalls father’s death and battling depression

WEB DESK: Kapil Sharma recently revealed he faced depression at 36, shocking many with the disclosure. The comedian also shared how he missed his late father after winning The Great Indian Laughter Challenge season 3. Kapil’s father passed away in 2004.

In an interview with ETimes, Kapil said every life phase has its charm. His childhood was different with his father, but his death derailed Kapil’s life. Later, TV opportunities helped him regain stability. At 36, he battled severe depression, with people doubting his comeback. Eventually, marriage and the return of his show led to over 300 successful episodes.

Kapil admitted he deeply misses his father. Reflecting on the past, he mentioned crying after winning the Laughter Challenge trophy and Rs. 10 lakhs prize, remembering his dad. He also recounted standing outside his house when his show aired, hearing laughter from neighbors’ TVs and imagining how proud his father would’ve been. Kapil said he misses his father daily, with certain moments hitting harder.
