Karachi: 12-Hour Cell Phone Service Suspension Begins

Karachi (November 10, 2017): As per the order of the Sindh government the mobile phone service has been suspended across the city as a security measure on the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) which like elsewhere in the country is also being observed here with religious fervor and reverence across and amid stringent security arrangements today.

The provincial government has announced that the cell service will remain closed from 10 am to 10 pm today.

Sindh government has also slapped a ban on pillion riding for the day. According to the notification issued by the Sindh home department the ban has been imposed under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

The sniffer dogs will be used to check the routes of the procession while routes will also be closed by erecting containers.

Due to the suspension of the cell phone service satellite phone have been provided to 15 high ranking police officials to remain in touch and to make timely decisions and convey orders to their men.Meanwhile, the Chelum mourning processions and congregations will be held across the country to pay tribute to Shuhda-e-Karbala. People from various schools of thought  will observe the day in their own way.

In Karachi the main procession guarded by hundreds of law-enforcement will be taken out from Nishtar Park and will be culminated in Kharadar. Mourners, including men, women and children, will march about 15km to the Imambargah Husainian Iranian, where Ulema will address the main majlis after sunset.

Mourning processions and congregations will be held across the country to pay tribute to Shuhda-e-Karbala. People from various schools of thought will observe the day in their own way.

In Lahore security are extraordinarily tight owing to the overlap of Chehlum observances with the Urs of Data Gunj Bukhsh, law-enforcement officials will carry out a flag march before the central procession, which traditionally will originates from Mubarak Haveli in the walled city, began.

More than 15000 law enforcement agencies personnel will be deployed by making four security walls to protect the procession. The participants will go through walks through gates while metal detectors will also be installed.

In Peshawar the main Chehlum procession will be originated from the Qissa Khawani Bazaar amid tight security and will conclude at the same place.

In Rawalpindi the main procession in Rawalpindi will be led by Tehreek-i-Nifaz Figah Jafariya chief Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi, which will be joined by two other processions and later culminated at the Imambargah Qadeemi.

In Hyderabad, the central procession will be originated from the Qadam Gah Maula Ali and culminated in Dadan Shah. In Sukkur, the procession was taken out from the Central Imambargah.

The main procession in Quetta will be taken out from Imambargah Jaffar Sadiq which will later join by smaller processions at Alamdar Road. The procession, led by Syed MusarratAgha, senior vice president of Shia Conference Balochistan, will be terminated at Marriabad graveyard after parading various roads.

Strict security measures are in place across the country and aerial surveillance of all processions in major metropolis are also carried out, while CCTV cameras and walkthrough gates were installed to check mourners and ensure their safety.
