Karachi consumers set to benefit as K-electric seeks reduction in electricity rates

KARACHI: Karachi’s electricity consumers soon will rejoice, as K-Electric has filed a request with Nepra for a reduction in electricity prices.

According to the application, the electricity rate could be decreased by Rs. 4.69 per unit.

K-Electric has submitted this request under the monthly fuel price adjustment mechanism, and the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) will hold a hearing on June 19 to review the proposal.

If approved, K-Electric’s customers are expected to receive a relief of approximately Rs. 717 million.

This development is a significant positive for residents, as it is anticipated to lead to a decrease in electricity bills.
