KARACHI: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has announced a local holiday on June 8 in observance of the annual Urs of Abdullah Shah Ghazi, allowing municipal employees an extended break alongside the weekend.
According to an official notification issued by the KMC’s Human Resource Management Department, all offices under the corporation’s administration will remain closed on June 8 (22 Zil Hajj 1447 AH) to mark the religious occasion.
The notification clarified that essential and emergency services will continue to operate without interruption to ensure the provision of critical public services.
With regular weekend holidays falling on June 6 and June 7, KMC staff will enjoy three consecutive days off. Authorities said the decision aims to facilitate participation in the Urs celebrations while maintaining the functioning of key civic services.
