Karachi likely to experience light rain, drizzle tonight; humid weather to continue: PMD reports

KARACHI: The port city expected light rain or drizzle tonight, with humid and partly cloudy conditions expected to persist across the city over the next 24 hours, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The weather agency forecasted light showers in some neighborhoods during early morning and late evening hours, following rain in areas like Malir and Model Colony earlier today.

Temperatures are projected to reach a high of 35°C, with the lowest temperature recorded at 29.5°C. Currently, humidity levels are high at 79%, reflecting moisture-laden air across the region. The PMD noted that sea breeze winds from the southwest at around 10 km/h are providing some relief along the coastline.

Meanwhile, the PMD’s forecast for Sunday indicates that most parts of Sindh and Balochistan will remain hot and humid, with the possibility of light rain or drizzle in Karachi and Hyderabad, especially during morning and evening hours.

Residents are advised to stay updated on weather alerts and exercise caution, particularly in flood-prone and densely populated areas. The National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC), under the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), has issued warnings about the potential for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and flash floods from July 6 to 10, as monsoon systems and a strong westerly wave are expected to impact various regions nationwide.
