KARACHI: The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations for Classes 9 and 10 under the Board of Secondary Education Karachi have officially commenced, but the opening day was overshadowed by controversy and complaints.
Reports emerged that the Computer Science paper scheduled for the morning session was allegedly leaked before the exam began, raising serious questions about the security and credibility of the examination process.
The incident has triggered concern among students, parents, and education observers, who are now demanding an inquiry into how the paper was accessed and circulated ahead of time.
In addition to the leak allegations, candidates also faced difficult conditions inside examination centres. Students reportedly sat their papers in extreme heat, with several centres lacking basic facilities such as fans and proper ventilation.
At Government Boys Secondary School in Malir, students complained of stifling classrooms where no cooling arrangements were available, making it harder to concentrate during the exam.
The situation has drawn criticism over administrative preparedness, with many questioning the effectiveness of the board’s arrangements and calling for immediate improvements to ensure fair and comfortable examination conditions in the remaining papers.
