Karachi’s Garbage Situation Going from ‘Bad to Worse’

KARACHI: The garbage situation of Pakistan’s biggest city Karachi is going from bad to worse, day by day due to mismanagement of the authorities, BBC reported.

According to the BBC report, the city produces about 12,000 tons of waste every day due to which the need of new dumping sites grows with each year as the population is exceeding with time.

Yet the city administration remains indifferent to waste collection, disposal, and recycling, the report further said.

Meanwhile, the city’s excrement has been dumped by Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB), DMCs, Cantonment Board and other organisations, the report said.

On a question about ‘swarms of flies’ in the city, the SSWMB Director Dr. A.D Sanjnai said that Karachi’s weather is favourable for the growth of flies.
