Karachi’s peace is cosmetic, fake: MQM

ISLAMABAD: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader and member National Assembly Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui on Friday said that the prevailing peace in Karachi was not real rather cosmetic and fake.

Talking to media outside Parliament’s House, Siddiqui, who was flanked by MNA Kanwar Naveed, said that if a criminal quit MQM and join any other party he become neat and clean. He claimed that in the ongoing Karachi operation MQM was being targeted and its workers were being picked and disappeared. He said that more than 100 MQM workers were missing.

He further said that his party’s headquarters was sealed ‘illegally’ and its several other offices in the city had been razed.  “I tried to talk to Prime Minister today about these issue, but Speaker switched off my microphone,” he said adding that they just wanted to tell the prime minister about the excesses being committed with them.

He said that no MQM leader was sentenced in any criminal case by any court which showed MQM was a peaceful party.
