Kashmiris deprivation for self-determination is failure of UN: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif vowed to raise Kashmir dispute actively in United Nations General Assembly, while he said that Kashmiris deprivation from their self-determination is a failure of United Nations, adding that the voice of Kashmiri people cannot be suppressed by oppression.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired high-level meeting in Prime Minister House Islamabad, which was attended by Adviser to Prime Minister for Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhary, Pakistan’s permanent representative in UN Dr. Maliha Lodhi and Pakistani Ambassador in US Jaleel Abbas Jillani. According to sources, the meeting discussed over matters related to the preparations of the meeting and agenda for UN General Assembly meeting. The meeting agreed to raise Kashmir issue in UN General Assembly actively.

On this eve, Prime Minister said that Kashmir dispute is an incomplete agenda of United Nations, adding that the voice of people of Occupied Kashmir cannot be suppressed through oppression. There are concerns on regional and international level due to Indian occupation in Kashmir, while not giving self-determination to Kashmiri people is the failure of United Nations. PM further said that Pakistan will continue to struggle helping Kashmiri people to get their rights.
