Srinagar: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and world over are observing Jammu Martyrs’ Day today to reaffirm the resolve to continue martyrs’ mission till realization of their inalienable right to self-determination.
The thousands of Kashmiris were massacred by the forces of Maharaja Hari Singh, Indian army and Hindutva forces in different parts of Jammu region while they were migrating to Pakistan during first week of November in 1947.
Every year, Kashmiris mark November 06 as the Jammu Martyrs’ Day to pay homage to the victims of the Jammu massacre.
Illegally detained senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, in a message from New Delhi’s Tihar jail eulogized the sacrifices of the Jammu martyrs.
He said the Jammu massacre of 1947 was the most horrible incident of the history of Jammu and Kashmir aimed at changing the demographic composition of the territory.
Other APHC leaders including Khawaja Firdous and Syed Bashir Andrabi in their statements deplored that the killing of innocent Kashmiri Muslims that started in Jammu in 1947 is still going on unabated in the region.
Moreover the APHC leaders and organizations said that the martyrs of Jammu rendered sacrifices of their lives for a sacred cause and their unprecedented sacrifices will not be forgotten.
The leaders and organizations said that heartbreaking genocide of the Muslims of Jammu in 1947 is one of the biggest tragedies in the world in which thousands of Muslims were martyred.
Meanwhile, Indian police and paramilitary personnel launched a joint cordon and search operation in Copra top, Bachian Wali, Shiendara, Thandi Kassi, Mohalla Saedan and other areas today, subjecting the local residents to sever harassment.
