ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court announced on Tuesday the reconstitution of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP), and the Practice and Procedure Committee, in alignment with the 27th Constitutional Amendment.
An official statement from the Supreme Court confirmed that Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail has been inducted as a member of the Supreme Judicial Council after consultations between the Chief Justice of Pakistan and the Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court.
Justice Aamer Farooq has been nominated as a member of the Judicial Commission, and Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail has also been appointed to the Practice and Procedure Committee.
Chief Justice Yahya Afridi will lead the reconstituted Supreme Judicial Council, while Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan will serve as its second senior member. Other members include Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Hasan Rizvi, and Justice Jamal Mandokhail.
The statement emphasized that Justice Mandokhail’s nomination was made through mutual consensus between both chief justices to promote transparency and enhance the effectiveness of judicial institutions.
Similarly, the Judicial Commission of Pakistan has been restructured, with Justice Aamer Farooq being appointed as a member following joint consultation.
The Practice and Procedure Committee will be chaired by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, with Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Jamal Mandokhail serving alongside him.
The reorganization of the SJC, JCP, and Practice and Procedure Committee has been conducted in accordance with the framework established by the 27th Constitutional Amendment.
