LAHORE: Suspended cricketer Khalid Latif appeared before Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Anti-corruption Unit (ACU) regarding the ongoing probe into spot fixing in Pakistan Super League held earlier this year in UAE.
A spokesman of PCB said that Khalid is being interrogated by head of PCB ACU Col. (retd) Azam Khan. It is to be mentioned here Khalid had earlier refused to appear before the ACU.
However, later he agreed to appear before the body’s Vigilance and Security Department (VSD), but expressed concerns about the impartiality of the ACU head.
In his letter, the cricketer in a turnaround agreed to attend the meeting, but expressed his concerns over the involvement of the PCB’s VSD Senior General Manager Muhammad Azam Khan in the investigation, accusing Khan of “levelling false charges” against him and “misrepresenting facts”.
“I hope that since I have no trust in you, you will not participate in my interview,” Latif said in the letter addressed to Khan. “But if you do so, it will be a mala fide act on your part and I will participate under protest in my interview,” he claimed.
However, the PCB had rejected Khalid Latif’s letter calling it “frivolous, baseless, and false”
