Washington (November 12, 2018): Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Sunday that the United States will hold all those accountable who are involved in the killing of Khashoggi, in a telephone call that also took in the conflict in Yemen.

“The Secretary emphasized that the United States will hold all of those involved in the killing of Jamal Khashoggi accountable and that Saudi Arabia must do the same,” State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said in a statement. The top US diplomat believes that Khashoggi´s killing “violates the norms of international law,” and that the US was reviewing possible sanctions on individuals identified as having been involved.

Previously on October 16, US President Donald Trump, over a telephone call, praised the progress in Saudi-Turkish joint cooperation in investigating the disappearance of Saudi citizen Jamal Bin Ahmed Khashoggi.

During the call, they discussed the latest developments in the region and reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries.

“King Salman did not know about the murderer of the journalist. The murderer maybe from another country. Turkey and Saudi official jointly probed the case”, Trump said.President Trump while talking to media in Washington said, he contacted Saudi King Salman over the telephone but the King did not know anything about the killer.

Earlier on November 05, sons of Jamal Khashoggi, Abdullah and Salah asked Saudi authorities to return the body of their father.

“I really hope that whatever happened wasn´t painful for him, or it was quick. Or he had a peaceful death,” Abdullah Khashoggi told the US network during the interview in Washington.

His brother Salah said “All that we want right now is to bury him in Al Baqi in Medina with the rest of his family,” referencing a cemetery in Saudi Arabia.“I talked about that with the Saudi authorities and I just hope that it happens soon.”

“There´s a lot of ups and downs… We´re trying to get the story — bits and pieces of the story to complete the whole picture,” Abdullah said. “It´s confusing and difficult.”

“It´s not a normal situation and not a normal death.”

Salah emphasized that “the King has stressed that everybody will be brought to justice. And I have faith in that.”
