Khawaja Asif denounces Afghan claims on TTP militants

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has firmly dismissed claims made by the Afghan delegation suggesting that Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) fighters crossing the border are simply Pakistani refugees returning home. The Pakistani government called this explanation illogical and lacking sincerity.

Sources within diplomatic circles revealed that Afghan officials contended that the individuals entering Pakistan were displaced Pakistani nationals residing within Afghan territory. However, Islamabad officials questioned how “refugees” could be armed and infiltrating through rugged mountain passes instead of crossing at official border points or using conventional transportation routes.

“This reasoning clearly reveals Afghanistan’s lack of genuine intent,” a senior security official commented. He emphasized that authentic refugees typically return through official, documented channels, not through covert, weapon-laden movements across treacherous terrain.Pakistan has repeatedly voiced concerns over the presence and activity of TTP militants operating from Afghan soil, urging Kabul to honor its international and bilateral commitments to prevent its territory from being exploited against Pakistan.

Security analysts highlight that recent border incidents highlight the urgent need for improved coordination and robust border management to promote regional stability and peace.
