Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Passes Resolution on CM Gandapur’s Disappearance

PESHAWAR: In an emergency session marked by tension and urgency, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly passed a resolution regarding the disappearance of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.

The session, chaired by Speaker Babar Saleem Swati, commenced after a delay of five hours and was met with enthusiastic slogans from party workers.

The resolution accused the federal interior minister and the governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of misleading the public and called for a detailed report to be submitted to the Assembly. Speaker Swati emphasized that the Assembly serves as the voice of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, urging both government and opposition members to engage in constructive dialogue about recent events.

Despite his requests for decorum, the chanting from the assembly workers persisted, prompting Speaker Swati to issue a warning that further disruptions would lead to their removal from the gallery. He noted the recent damage to the offices of the Chief Minister and other ministers at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad, underscoring the seriousness of the session.

During the proceedings, Provincial Law Minister Aftab Alam, with the Advocate General in attendance, proposed the suspension of rules to expedite the resolution’s passage. Ahmad Kundi further suggested presenting the resolution unanimously. The resolution stated that the leader of the house was missing and highlighted the need for accountability from federal authorities.

The resolution reiterated that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is a vital part of the federal republic, urging the Speaker to exercise his legal authority to keep the House informed. Following the majority vote in favor, Speaker Swati issued directives summoning the Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Police, and Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister to report on actions taken to locate Gandapur.

This significant resolution underscores the Assembly’s commitment to addressing the pressing issue of its Chief Minister’s disappearance and holding relevant authorities accountable.
