Lahore: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa successfully defended the National T20 title against Central Punjab at the Gaddafi Stadium Wednesday.

In reply to the 149-run target, KP reached the target in 17 overs with seven wickets in hand.

He was well supported by Kamran Ghulam, who contributed with 37 off 31 balls. Adil Amin remained unbeaten on 25.

For Central Punjab, Sameen Gul, Qasim Akram and Muhammad Faizan shared a wicket each for the losing side.

Earlier batting first, Central Punjab were bowled out for 148 in 19.2 overs. After losing Mohammad Akhlaq, who departed without troubling the scorers, Ahmed Shehzad and Kamran Akmal got the team off to a magnificent start.

They made an 85-run stand for the second wicket. At that stage, Kamran Akmal was removed by Khalid Usman. He scored 42 off 29 deliveries with the help of three boundaries and two maximums.

His wicket was the start of the collapse of the middle-order as team was reduced to 101 for five in the span of just over three overs.

The major dent was provided by Iftikhar Ahmed, who claimed figures of three for five in his two-over spell.

Mohammad Imran also claimed three wickets in the game and conceded just 26 runs in 3.2 overs.

For his brilliant all-around performance in the tournament Iftikhar was named the man of the tournament and the man of the match in the final.
