ISLAMABAD: Jordan’s King Abdullah is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on Saturday for a two-day state visit aimed at strengthening strategic ties between the two nations, according to Pakistan’s foreign ministry.
During his stay, King Abdullah is expected to meet with the Pakistani president and prime minister to discuss various aspects of bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, as stated by the foreign office.
The visit is intended to further solidify the strategic partnership between Pakistan and Jordan, elevating relations to a new level that encompasses political, economic, and cultural collaboration.
Jordan has historically maintained close ties with Pakistan, being the fifth country globally to officially recognize it. Diplomatic relations between the two nations were formalized in August 1948.
The trade volume between Pakistan and Jordan reached $46.58 million in 2023, according to figures from Pakistan’s embassy in Amman. Additionally, Jordan is home to an expatriate community of approximately 16,000 Pakistanis.
As part of the visit, a special ceremony will be held at Islamabad’s presidency to bestow Pakistan’s highest civilian honor upon King Abdullah, as confirmed by the foreign office.
The visit is expected to deepen the strong bond between Pakistan and Jordan while broadening the scope of bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
