Islamabad: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Haji Ghulam Ali has suggested May 28 date for holding elections in the province.
The Governor KP suggested the date in a consultative meeting with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) at the ECP headquarter.
Haji Ghulam Ali said that consultation with the ECP happened in a pleasant enviroment adding that the most of the matter were also settled in a meeting with the officials of the ECP in Peshawar.
He said that everyone was waiting for an election date adding that it was his constitutional duty to announce the date of the election.
The Governor further said that fulfilling the order of Supreme Court is necessary. The Governor said that tribal eluders are still protesting over the census.
The Governor said there is questions on security issues in erstwhile tribal areas while tribal eluders are still protesting over the census.
He said that it was his aspiration that elections in Punjab and KP be conducted on the same day.
