PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has launched the “Ehsaas Apna Ghar” scheme in the province, with a budget of 4 billion rupees. A ceremony was held at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar to distribute loan checks, attended by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
During the event, the Chief Minister distributed interest-free loan checks to 67 successful applicants. A total of 4 billion rupees has been allocated for providing interest-free loans under the scheme.
To ensure transparency in the loan distribution process, loans are being provided through computerized lotteries. The scheme is open to individuals aged 18 to 65 whose monthly income is less than 150,000 rupees.
Under the scheme, applicants will be eligible for interest-free loans of up to 1.5 million rupees, which will be repaid in easy installments over a period of seven years. The scheme will also provide loans in future years through a revolving fund system.
In the first phase of the scheme, 123,000 applications were received, out of which 18,555 applicants met the criteria.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ali Amin Gandapur stated that the “Ehsaas Apna Ghar” scheme is a flagship and pro-poor project of the provincial government, and part of Imran Khan’s vision to provide shelter for low-income families.
He emphasized that the economic issues of the province have been largely resolved through the diligent efforts of his team, and now the province is financially stable. The government plans to increase resources and focus on spending for the welfare of its people.
