WEB DESK: Russian drones and missiles targeted Kyiv’s districts early Saturday, leaving one person dead and 11 others injured, according to officials. Explosions and falling drone debris caused fires across several areas.
This marks the second attack on Ukraine’s capital in four days. On Tuesday, a similar assault involving drones and missiles claimed the lives of seven people.
Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, reported that six locations were struck during Saturday’s attack. Residential buildings, including apartment complexes in the city of 3 million, sustained significant damage.
Rescue workers recovered the body of a resident from the rubble of an apartment building that had been engulfed in flames. A child was also saved from the same site.
Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that one of the strikes ignited a fire on the lower floors of a high-rise apartment block to the west of the city center. Another blaze briefly broke out in a central district but was swiftly contained.
Images shared online captured scenes of at least one burning apartment building, damaged structures, and streets strewn with debris, as emergency teams worked tirelessly in the wake of the attack.
