LAHORE: Lahore court on Saturday rescinded the arrest warrant for actress Nazish Jahangir after she appeared before the court and submitted surety bonds of Rs.50,000.
The case, heard by Judicial Magistrate Ghulam Shabir Syal, was filed by a resident of Defence Housing Authority (DHA) accusing the actress and several others of fraud and breach of trust. The complainant alleged that Jahangir and her associate, Sikandar Khan, failed to return Rs.2.5 million and a vehicle. He further accused them of issuing threats in the matter.
Previously, the court had issued arrest warrants for the accused and instructed the police to present them before the court on March 22.
In her public statements, Jahangir vehemently denied the allegations, labeling them a premeditated scheme to blackmail her and tarnish her reputation. Appearing on a television show, she dismissed the case as a “flop blackmail show,” claiming it was orchestrated by individuals seeking to extort money.
“This entire situation is a deliberate, well-coordinated plot. People with no credibility use such tactics to target privileged individuals like us,” she stated.
Following her appearance in court, Jahangir’s legal team reiterated her stance, asserting that the accusations were baseless and that she would vigorously contest the charges.
