LAHORE: A man allegedly killed his estranged wife and three members of her family before taking his own life in the Chohang area of Lahore on Tuesday, police said.
The incident occurred in Barkat Colony, where the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Imran Shaukat, reportedly went to his in-laws’ residence and asked his wife, Samia, to return home with him.
Police said the couple had married around six months ago but Samia had been living with her family following a dispute with her husband.
According to investigators, Imran arrived at the house armed with a rifle. After his wife refused to accompany him, he allegedly shot her in the head.
Police said the suspect then opened fire on her family members, killing her father Ali Khan, mother Shamaila and brother Zeeshan.
After the shooting, Imran allegedly turned the weapon on himself and died at the scene.
Police teams reached the residence after receiving information about the incident and shifted the bodies to Jinnah Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
Authorities have begun an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the killings and the events that preceded the deadly dispute.
