LAHORE – Lahore Qalandars defeated Quetta Gladiators by eight wickets in the 20th match of the seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022 at Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.
Playing first, Quetta were well below-par after Shaheen Shah set them back with two wickets in the opening over – Roy and Vince – both massive wickets, immediately they were on the back foot and soon they were 25/4 but Iftikhar put his hand up.
He rode the threats and then opened out towards the end. Umar Akmal was looking good too but got out after a start. Iftikhar s 50 had given Quetta something to bowl at. Lahore were very good in the field and with the ball. Hafeez’s catch the highlight and the bowlers never let the strong grip they had get away.
Shaheen led from the front by breaking the back of Quetta s batting order. From then on they tried to play catch up but weren t able to do enough. Their batters did enough to ensure it is smooth sailing for the Lahore unit.
141 was never enough and Lahore just stamped their class on the runchase. Fakhar Zaman donned the role of the aggressor and had an able ally in the form of Kamran Ghulam, who got a fifty as well.
