LAHORE: The Punjab Police have approved another change to the Lahore traffic police uniform, replacing the current design less than a year after it was introduced.
According to official sources, traffic wardens will no longer wear the existing combination of white shirts and blue trousers. Instead, they will be issued new uniforms in a bluish-grey color as part of the latest update to the force’s dress code.
The current uniform was introduced during the tenure of former Chief Traffic Officer Athar Waheed. At that time, each traffic warden received Rs5,000 to purchase the newly approved attire.
Police officials said the decision was finalized during a meeting led by the Deputy Inspector General of Logistics and Procurement. Senior officers, including the Assistant Inspector General of Logistics, the Superintendent of Police for the Resource Management Programme, and the Superintendent of the Punjab Highway Patrol, attended the session.
While Lahore’s traffic police will adopt the new bluish-grey uniform, the Punjab Highway Patrol will continue using its existing uniform design. Officials also confirmed that Highway Patrol personnel will receive standardized uniforms under the latest arrangements.
