Lal Shahbaz Blast Case: CTD Submits Final Charge Sheet

Hyderabad: The police’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Hyderabad on Tuesday submitted the final charge sheet in the Lal Shahbaz Qalandar shrine bombing case, naming seven accused, six of whom are absconding.

The charge sheet was submitted in an anti-terrorism court (ATC) by Imtiaz Ali Domki, CTD’s Hyderabad inspector and the investigating officer (IO) of the case.

The arrested accused, Nadir Ali Jakhrani alias Murshid, son of Ghulam Rasool Jakhrani, a resident of village Saeed Khan Jakhrani, Kashmore district, was produced by Karachi central prison’s court police. He was remanded to judicial custody.

The IO said six accused — Safiullah, son of Mohammad Riaz Mazari; Abdul Sattar, son of Yusuf Mazari; Aijaz Bangalzai, Farooq Bangalzai, Tanvir Ahmed and Zulqarnain — were absconders. Non-bailable warrants for their arrests have already been issued by the Hyderabad ATC.

The ATC judge adjourned hearing until January 10.

Jakhrani had been arrested by the CTD Police Karachi last month in connection with the case.

A list of 24 prosecution witnesses, including policemen, doctors, revenue officers, magistrates and others, has been attached with the charge sheet as they will be asked to testify before the court.

At least 88 people were killed and around 200 others were injured in a suicide bombing at the Lal Shahbaz Qalanadar shrine in Sehwan on Feb 16. The Sindh government is said to have started the process to recommend the case for trial by a military court.
