Lahore: Full fledged heavy rains lashed in Lahore in the first spell of monsoon which covered the land with water.

This rainy season has broken 30-year-record of rains in the walled city. Whereas 315 mm rains are recorded in Tajpura in the recent year.

The Managing Director (MD) Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) has motivated by himself monitoring drainage of water operation on the direction of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz.

The MD WASA apprised that for the drainage operation all the heavy machinery are being used in Lahore.

The MD also visited various roads of Lahore for reviewing the situation of the arteries after the rains.

He visited Syed Mauj Darya road, Muzang Ada Chowlk, Litton road, Khema Sadat and Mall road.

The Lahore police have been playing role on front-line for drainage of the rainwater. Whereas traffic police personnel are also in the field to ensure flow of the traffic during the rains.

They kept aware the traffic situation of the walled city to the officers through videos.

Heavy rains also reported in Chechawatni, Faisalabad and other cities of Punjab.
