KARACHI: Pakistan Customs has executed a significant operation, dismantling an intricate international narcotics smuggling network that had been operating through Jinnah International Airport. The authorities apprehended the suspected mastermind and confiscated a massive cache of ecstasy tablets worth over Rs3.2 billion.
The successful crackdown resulted in the seizure of more than 10,000 ecstasy tablets, weighing around 4.5 kilograms. These drugs, originating from Germany, were being smuggled into Pakistan using international postal services.
The investigation was set in motion after a suspicious parcel was flagged at the airport’s Foreign Mail Office in December 2025. Officials launched a targeted surveillance operation when an individual, identified as Kamran, arrived to retrieve the shipment. Extended monitoring efforts then led authorities to uncover a hidden distribution hub situated in Karachi’s Korangi area.
A subsequent raid on this covert facility resulted in the capture of the network’s alleged ringleader, Sher Muhammad, son of Muhammad Jan, alongside multiple members involved in this organized operation. This bust marks a substantial disruption within a major narcotics trafficking pipeline.
Customs officials have stated that further inquiries are underway to unravel both international and domestic connections within the smuggling network and to assess the full scope of its operations.
