large-scale tax audit underway to uncover undeclared income, hidden assets. FBR

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has intensified its crackdown on tax evaders nationwide, targeting individuals living far beyond their declared income levels.

Through its Lifestyle Monitoring Cell, the FBR has identified numerous individuals leading opulent lifestyles—owning luxury vehicles, frequently vacationing abroad, and showcasing high-end brands—while reporting little to no taxable income.

FBR representatives have announced the launch of a large-scale tax audit campaign aimed at uncovering unreported income and concealed assets.

This initiative also focuses on social media influencers. Many of these individuals project a life of affluence through frequent international travels, luxury purchases, and extravagant displays on their platforms, yet their filed tax returns often show modest earnings. Such cases are now being scrutinized through advanced digital profiling and financial data analysis.

Insider sources have further revealed that several taxpayers have failed to declare valuable items such as jewelry, designer watches, and other luxury assets in their returns. The FBR is investigating whether these omissions were intentional attempts to evade taxes.

To ensure strict compliance, the FBR has instructed all Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) to act promptly against suspected tax evaders. Officials have reiterated their commitment to sustaining this campaign until accountability is fully achieved.
