LHC Accepts Shehbaz’s Bail Petitions, Issues Orders Of Release

LAHORE: Lahore High Court on Thursday accepted bail petitions of PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif in Raman Sugar Mills and Ashiana Housing Scheme Case.

According to details, a two-judge bench headed by Justice Malik Shehzad Ahmed heard bail petitions of the opposition leader in NA Shehbaz Sharif and Fawad Hasan Fawad.

During the hearing, the court inquired if another housing scheme was there other than the sugar mills. To this, the lawyer stated that several other schemes are located at Fatehabad and Maqsoodabad.

Justice Mirza Waqas Rauf asked, “When was feasibility report made and have you brought its documents?”

The lawyer responded that all the records were in possession in NAB. He added, “All documents are with NAB, we’ll still try to retrieve some and present before the court”.

Later, LHC ordered the release of the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly.

Fawad’s bail petition in the Ashiana Iqbal Housing Scheme case got approved, though his petition in assets beyond sources of income was rejected by the bench.

Earlier on January 22, Shehbaz Sharif had filed a plea seeking bail in both cases. The bail stated that his [Shehbaz’s] arrest made by the Accountability watchdogs NAB) was contrary to law.

On October 5, 2018, NAB had taken Shehbaz under their custody in Ashiana Iqbal Housing Scheme case.
