LHC CJ Orders President And Governor To Take Oath From Hamza As CM Punjab

Lahore: Chief Justice Lahore High Court, Muhammad Ameer Bhatti has directed the Punjab Governor to administer oath to newly elected Chief Minister Punjab Hamza Shahbaz Sharif either himself or appoint a representative for the purpose till Thursday.

The court also disposed of the writ petition filed by Hamza Shahbaz Sharif in this regard.

The LHC announced the verdict on the Hamza Shahbaz petition to implement court orders regarding his oath which was reserved on the earlier hearing.

The petition has made secretory to president, federation, Prime Minister and the Punjab government were made respondents in the case.

The court regretted that country’s biggest province has been functioning without a chief executive for the last twenty five days.

The Chief Justice Lahore High Court directed the concerned officials to immediately fax the court’s order to the President and Governor Punjab

In its written verdict, the court apprised that under the 1973 constitution the immediate formation of the government is must adding that to arrange federal ministers, provincial governors, elected members oath taking is necessary.

As per the written verdict the court rejeects all the hurdles creating in the oath taking. It furhter added there is no vaccum or place in the constitution to delay the oath taking .
The written order said that after the resignation of Usman Buzdar, the Punjab government is being run without chief executive of the province.

It said that delay in the oath taking for newly elected chief minister is against the constitution.
