Lahore: Lahore high court has directed an effective crackdown against the under age driver and vehicles without license, Court said if an accident occurs due to a young driver, the responsible will be the concerned SHO and sector in-charge
Justice Ali Zia Bajwa heard the protection request of accused Afnan. Chief Traffic Officer( CTO ) Lahore, SSP Operations and other police officers appeared in the court. The government lawyer told the court that the crackdown is against those, who drive vehicles without a license. 2986 cases were registered in three days. SP Operations said that joint teams have been formed. Violation is being dealt with indiscriminately. On inquiry from the court, CTO said that awareness campaign regarding traffic license is going on.
The court remarked that the police should not harass anyone unnecessarily, if such an action takes place, strict action will be taken. The lawyer of accused Afnan said that the accused’s partner Ibrahim has also been arrested by the police. On which the court remarked that now the police have to arrest the whole of Lahore. The court adjourned the proceedings by asking DG Excise for the details of the vehicle registration procedure.
