LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) has extended the stay and barred new joint investigation team (JIT) to probe Model Town carnage case till an indefinite period here on Friday. The court has also given some more time to the Punjab government for submitting reply.
A three-member bench of the LHC heard a case pertaining to a case on a filed petition seeking to bar the new JIT to continue the probe the Model Town carnage.
During the hearing, the court was told by the lawyers of the Punjab government and the lawyers of Minhaj-ul-Quran that the answers are but they need more time for submission.
Minhaj-ul-Quran foundation’s lawyer told the court that they have challenged the formation of a three-member bench in the LHC which is yet to be heard. To which, Justice Qasim Khan in his remarks said that he is going abroad for 15 days and can resume hearing only after Eid.
Inspector Rizwan Qadir and others in similar petitions have challenged the formation of new JIT in the case.
