Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered closing all the markets of the provinces by 8 pm while it also imposed ban on buses and trucks emitting smoke.
Justice Shahid Kareem of the LHC heard various petitions against not taking measures for prevention of smog around the province.
We are taking measures for helping the government for controlling the smog but it seems that the government is not taking the measures with good intentions, Justice Shahid Kareem remarked.
He said that the actual reasons behind environmental pollution is heavy traffic smoke while he suggested to impose fine of Rs 50000 to smoke emitting cars, buses and trucks.
If government pressurizes then Deputy Commissioners take review of situation coming out of their offices, the court remarked.
The court called implementation report of the court orders from all the departments.
The case prorogued the hearing till November 11.
