Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday ordered to give equal media coverage to all political parties and candidate including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The LHC single bench Justice Shamshad Mirza issued a written verdict comprising a 10-page of the case on the PTI petition.
The order reads that under the article 17 every citizen has right of independence of expression including it also covered other rights as well.
According to the written verdict an election campaign and publicity to apprise their manifesto is the basic right in the general election.
For free, fair and transparent elections freedom of expression through a free media should be allowed.Without freedom of expression the elections could not be declare free and fair, the order reads.
The founding chairman of PTI Imran Khan has challenged the matter of not be given media coverage by the news channels.
