ISLAMABAD: The lifetime disqualification of Nawaz Shareef and Jahangir Tareen has ended by pronounced verdict by Supreme Court of Pakistan on the interpretation of Article 62 (1) F
According to the verdict of the Supreme Court, the disqualification of the former Prime Minister and leader of the Muslim League-N Nawaz Sharif and the head of the Istehkaam-e-Pakistan Party Jahangir Tareen has ended.
A 7-member bench headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa heard the case of interpretation of Article 62 (1)F.
The Supreme Court passed verdict by a majority of 6 to one, the court in its decision overruled the decision of the Samiullah Baloch disqualification case.
According to the decision, disqualification of politicians will not be for life, 62 One F is interpreted as read-in of the Constitution by judicial declaration, there is no process of law for giving declaration.The Chief Justice of Pakistan said that after the release of the election schedule, it was necessary that this decision should be pronounced immediately, thanks to all the lawyers and the Attorney General for coming.
It should be noted that on July 28, 2017, a five-member bench of the Supreme Court disqualified former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the Panama Papers case under Article 62-1F.
Similarly, on December 15, 2017, the then Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Jahangir Tareen was also disqualified by a separate bench of the Supreme Court under the same clause.After the verdict, both Nawaz Sharif and Jahangir Tareen were disqualified from holding public office
Speaking to media regarding the decision, PML-N leader and former federal law minister Nazir Tarar said that there is no mention of lifetime disqualification in any provision of the constitution, the Supreme Court has made a timely decision. Azam Nazir Tarar said that the disqualification was an unfair decision, a stain has been cleared by the decision of the Supreme Court.
