Champions Pakistan face stellar World XI in historic T20 today

The squad features Sarfraz Ahmad (captain, wicketkeeper), Fakhar Zaman, Ahmed Shehzad, Babar Azam, Shoaib Malik, Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan, Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali, Rumman Raees, and Sohail Khan.

Arrangements Finalized for Emergency During Match

Rescue 1122 have deployed 20 ambulances, seven fire tenders and set up 80 rescue posts at different places of the city to tackle any untoward incident during World-XI matches.

According to Rescue 1122 spokesman, a specialised 100feet high snorkel used for fire fighting and to evacuate trap victims is also deployed.

Disaster Response Force (DRF) and Urban Search and Rescue(USAR) will remain stand by during this event (cricket match).

Pakistan is providing a head-of-state level security to the visiting team with Pakistan Army, Rangers, Police and other law enforcement agencies ensuring that the tour goes smoothly and without any untoward incident.

The first match will be played today (Tuesday) with the next two games slated for Wednesday (tomorrow) and Friday. The entire series will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium.

The first of the three T-20 match of the Azadi Cup event between Pakistan and World XI will start at 7 p.m. All the preparations have been made including the stringent security plan comprising traffic management. All the adjacent roads around Qaddafi stadium are being closed for the traffic.

All the World XI players arrived in Pakistan on the night of Sunday and Monday.

Invitations have already been extended to President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, and Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa to watch the match in person.

The stringent security arrangements comprise 8,000 personnel performing the security duty while personnel special police forces Dolphin and PRU will patrol the roads with police personnel deputed to all routes leading to the stadium.

Talking on the occasion Najam Sethi said that the final of the PSL paved the way for the return of international cricket in Pakistan. He also thanked ICC members for giving permission to foreign players to come to Pakistan.
