Unacceptable That Nawaz Sharif Being Called A Traitor: PM

Islamabad(May  15, 2018): Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday said that the national security issues must not be exploited for political point scoring.

Speaking in the National Assembly, Prime Minister clarified that the Indian media misreported statement of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Mumbai attacks for their own designs.

He said the former Prime Minister did not say that the militants were deliberately sent from Pakistan for Mumbai attacks.

The Prime Minister categorically stated that Pakistan has a consistent policy of not allowing the use of its soil for attacks against any other country. This has been the policy in the past and remains so today.

PM said that “I can say with assurance that no one in Parliament has read the newspaper interview of the former premier of which a furore is being created”It is unacceptable that Nawaz is being termed a traitor, the premier asserted.

The premier also said that a national truth and reconciliation commission can be made so the truth can come out.

Earlier today, former Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif had rejected the declaration of the National Security Committee(NSC).

While talking informally with the newsmen outside the accountability court, Nawaz Sharif said the declaration of NSC is “Painful”, which is not based on the reality.

The Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said, those should be made accountable, who laid the foundation of terrorism in the country, Pakistan has been isolated in the world, claimed Nawaz Sharif.” Tell me, which country is ready to support us? Is there any? Asked Nawaz.

Nawaz Sharif repeated his demand to form National Commission, “things have to be clear” asserted Nawaz Sharif.

The PML-N Supremo further said that he said the same things during NSC’s meeting in past, which were named as “Dawn Leaks”.NSC Terms Nawaz’s Statement ‘Completely False, Misleading’Yesterday,  the National Security Committee (NSC) had categorically denied statement of the former PM Nawaz Sharif about the 2008 Mumbai attacks and unanimously termed it “completely false and misleading”.

The NSC, which met under the chair of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Monday, said in its statement that the country’s top civil and military leadership conducted a detailed review of Nawaz’s statement printed in a newspaper interview on Saturday.

The NSC said it was unfortunate and regrettable that concrete evidence and facts were ignored in the statement.

It also stated that India denied Pakistani investigators access to Ajmal Kasab, the convicted Mumbai attacker who was hanged by India.

The NSC meeting was attended by Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee, Services Chiefs, DG ISI, National Security Adviser, Federal Ministers and others.
