Islamabad: An accountability court of Islamabad continued hearing of the LNG reference against former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbassi and others while arguments for third amendment ordinance continued.
Shahid Khaqan Abbassi and other co-accused also appeared before the ac of Judge Azam Khan.
A gazetted copy of third amendment ordinance presented before the court. To which, the Judge asked, anyone wanted to say something on the third amendment ordinance?.To which Defense counsel Barrister Qasim Abbassi said giving reference of various legal points and verdicts of the Supreme Court of Pakistan that the ac should decide the case keeping in mind all legal points and verdicts of the SC.
The NAB prosecutor Usman Mirza objecting the court decisions presented before the court by the defense counsel, said that these decision not applicable to this reference adding that EETPL and SSGC signed an agreement til 2029. Shahid Khaqan Abbassi and Miftah Ismail approved provision of 200 percent additional gas. Despite a warning of PEPRA, on EETPL basis step was taken and no provision of such thing exist in the law.
On this, Shahid Khaqan Abbassi came to rostrum, the court asked him do you want to say something on the issue? Shahid Khaqan Abbassi said that he is not benefiting from this ordinance adding that he is thankful to the NAB prosecutor who brought all the facts on the surface. His (the NAB prosecutor) arguments will help us substantially.
On the request of Shahid Khaqan Abbassi, the court ordered to make the NAB arguments part of the record and adjourned the hearing till November 16.
