LAHORE: LPG distributors in Lahore began a strike on Saturday, protesting what they described as a government crackdown on their businesses.
In a statement, the distributors’ association called for an immediate halt to raids by paramilitary forces, Civil Defence and local government staff targeting LPG refilling and decanting. It said equipment and other goods were being seized from shops, claiming property worth Rs1.4 billion had been damaged. The association also alleged that some officials had demanded bribes.
The group urged Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to intervene and establish clear standard operating procedures for LPG shops. It said the strike would continue until its demands were addressed.
