Luis Suarez signs new Inter Miami contract

WEB DESK: Luis Suarez has committed to another season with Inter Miami following his landmark contributions in the team’s historic 2025 campaign, where they clinched both the MLS Cup and the Eastern Conference title.

The veteran Uruguayan striker, now 38 years old, signed a contract extension announced by the Major League Soccer club on Wednesday, ensuring his return for the upcoming season.

Suarez originally joined Inter Miami in 2024, rekindling his partnership with Lionel Messi, a connection forged during their time at FC Barcelona. His presence proved instrumental in shaping one of the club’s most successful seasons to date.

Inter Miami praised Suarez for his crucial leadership and wealth of experience, attributes that steered them to unprecedented triumphs. Beyond domestic achievements, Suarez also contributed significantly to the club’s international efforts, aiding their journey to the round of 16 in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

The seasoned forward appeared in 50 matches across all competitions last season, showcasing his enduring talents with impressive stats—17 goals and 17 assists, tallying 34 contributions to goal-scoring plays.

As Suarez nears his 39th birthday in January, he gears up for his third year with the Florida-based team, aiming to sustain the impact that has solidified his legacy.
