SARGODHA: A significant development has taken place in the tragic kidnapping and killing of 7-year-old Muntaha Zahra within Sargodha’s jurisdiction, as the primary suspect, Muhammad Arslan, has admitted to his involvement during police questioning.
Sources from law enforcement revealed that the breakthrough came when Muhammad Arslan, the main accused, confessed to the heinous crime while in custody. The court has granted a six-day remand of the suspect to the Crime Control Department for further investigation, with police and legal authorities working together to unravel the case.
The District Police Officer (DPO) of Sargodha assured that those responsible will face strict legal action and receive exemplary punishment. All four individuals implicated in the case have been produced before the court following initial investigations.
The case garnered widespread media attention after CCTV footage emerged, showing the young girl entering a shop for her last moments alive. Later, her body was found on the third floor of the same establishment.
Following the incident, Muhammad Arslan initially fled the scene but was later apprehended by police using advanced investigative tools. During interrogations, he admitted his role in the crime.
The child’s funeral was held amid widespread grief, with a large number of citizens attending to pay their respects. She was laid to rest at the city’s main cemetery after the funeral prayers.
Police authorities have stated that further investigations are ongoing, and a detailed charge sheet will be submitted to the court once forensic reports and other legal procedures are completed.
