ISLAMABAD: The private organization “Earth Quick News and Research Center” has issued a warning about a potential severe earthquake in Karachi.
The CEO of the organization, Muhammad Shehbaz Leghari, has cautioned the public and government that there is a significant possibility of a strong earthquake occurring between Thursday night and Saturday night. He emphasized that recent smaller tremors should not be ignored, as they can reduce the chances of a major quake.
Leghari stated that, he has no intention of spreading fear and panic but aims to alert the government and the public in advance so they can take protective measures. He accused the country of hindering and discouraging his services, despite receiving offers of cooperation and joint efforts from abroad.
He clarified that, if the government cooperates, his organization can establish an early earthquake warning system for Pakistan, which would not only generate substantial foreign exchange but also elevate Pakistan’s standing internationally. Laghari warned that if the government does not support this initiative, they will collaborate with other countries to develop the system, thereby depriving Pakistan and its people of this great achievement.
During a press conference, he explained that “Earth Quick News and Research Center” is the world’s first research center claiming to provide early earthquake warnings, with evidence available on their YouTube channel “EQQN”.
On the other hand, tremors of an earthquake were felt again in various areas of Karachi. According to the Seismological Center, earthquakes were experienced in areas including Quaidabad, Shah Latif, and Bhains Colony, with a magnitude of 3.1 and a depth of 80 kilometers. The epicenter was located 10 kilometers east of Malir.
