Major Land Operation launched in Rajgal This Morning: DG ISPR

Rawalpindi (July 16, 2017): A major land operation was launched in Rajgal this morning to cleanse it out of Daesh which has been organizing there, DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor has said at a press conference underway here.

Calling the operation a difficult one in term of ground realities DG ISPR said that besides making PAK-Afghan border safe terrorists’ hideouts will also be targeted during the operation which is an extension of the ongoing Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad.

Calling Rajgal the most difficult area of fata Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said that those who migrated from the area would be brought back after the completion of the latest operation.

Forty-six major operations were undertaken under Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad which was launched on  February 22 . Bajur and Swat were cleared initially and now Mehmand Agency is being cleared. The terrorists which were carrying out sectarian acts of terror are now targeting the army contingents as well.

The terrorists who were arrested from Parachinar were affiliated with Daesh. Operation Khyber-4 is a part of Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad, Daesh is growing in areas adjoining Afghanistan, Pak Army will cleanse Khyber Agency of terrorists, he added.

Over 9,000 operations were conducted on the basis of intelligence wjile peace was also restored in Karachi. The situation along the LOC is bad because India is committing violations of cease fire agreement while the control of afghan forces and authorities are declining in Afghanistan, DG ISPR said. Afghan government has to establish its control to make the situation better in the country, he added.

Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor informed that so far this year India has committed 580 ceasefire violations.

A Division of Pak Army is taking part in the operation initiated this morning and the issues between Afghanistan and Pakistan could only be resolved through talks. There are 40 cases under hearing at Military courts and the cases of 17 people involved in Parachinar incident would also be tried by the military court, he added.
