Mandatory E-Tags for vehicles in Islamabad starting next week

ISLAMABAD: In a significant move to enhance security and streamline traffic management, the Islamabad district administration has announced that all vehicles operating on the city’s highways must have e-tags from November 18 onwards.

Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Memon stated on Friday that this initiative is part of a comprehensive effort to transform the city into one of the safest urban centers in Pakistan. E-tag stickers will be distributed at various designated centers across Islamabad beginning November 18. The administration plans to notify the public in advance about the official locations for issuing these stickers to ensure a smooth and organized process.

DC Memon emphasized that e-tags will only be available at official points, and vehicle owners must present their original registration documents when applying. The policy will apply to all vehicles entering the city’s highways, regardless of whether they are registered within Islamabad or elsewhere.

Officials believe that implementing the e-tag system will enhance security protocols, facilitate better traffic regulation, and assist law enforcement agencies in monitoring vehicle movement within the capital more efficiently.
