KOTRI: Upon receiving information about a child marriage, the police took action and placed the groom and bride into protective custody.
According to the Kotri Site Area Police, in Khuda Ki Basti, the police arrested the maternal uncle who was providing guardianship and took the 16-year-old bride and 14-year-old groom into protective custody.
The police stated that the girl’s sister had filed a complaint about the underage marriage, which led to the action being taken.
The girl informed the police that she was unwilling to marry her maternal uncle’s son and had been subjected to violence as a result.
The police stated that both individuals will be presented in court, and further legal action will be taken. The girl’s mother has passed away, and her father resides in Karachi after remarrying.
