Lahore: Maryam Nawaz has been elected as a first woman Chief Minister Punjab after getting 220 votes in Punjab Assembly session.
The Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) boycotted the voting for the election of the Chief Minister. They also boycotted the session twice over not allowing them to speak in the assembly.
There were two contenders in the race to become CM of Punjab as PML-N had nominated Maryam Nawaz while Sunni Ittehad Council nominated Rana Aftab Ahmad Khan for the position.
