Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has underscored the importance of maintaining harmony, national unity and peace in society.
She stated this while addressing Etihad Bainal Muslimeen Conference in Lahore today.
The Chief Minister highlighted the collective responsibility to present the positive face of Islam to the world, stressing that taking the law into one’s own hands, especially in religious matters, endangers everyone.
She emphasized that individuals committing crimes are simply criminals, regardless of their religious affiliation.
The CM said that slandering someone is a major crime and the necessity of defamation law is needed the most today.
She said that no one allowed to spread a lie including the media.
The CM said that he is determined to peace in the month of Muharram. She said that incidents like Swat and Sargodha are a moment of reflection.
She said that the government is taking measures for blocking of sectarian accounts.
