KARACHI: Mayor and deputy mayor elections will be held today in Karachi and 308 local government representatives will exercise their right to vote.
Strict security measures have been taken to avoided any untoward incident.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) won majority of LG seats in Karachi. There are 67 votes in district West and 47 in district South. While unopposed mayors and deputy mayor had been elected in district Malir and Central.
Votes of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will play pivotal role in district South elections as both parties have four votes each. MQM have 21 seats in the district and Pakistan People’s Party claimed 22 votes in the district.
