Met office predicts rainfall, thunderstorms in Karachi due to Low-Pressure System

KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued an alert forecasting rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in parts of Karachi, driven by a well-defined low-pressure system.

The weather system, situated over the Gulf of Kutch, is expected to influence the Sindh region by bringing moist air currents into the area, leading to rainfall on Thursday and Friday.

Some neighborhoods in Karachi may experience heavy downpours along with gusty winds, according to the latest weather updates. Currently, the city is experiencing northeast winds at a speed of 11 km/h, with humidity levels at 74%. The minimum temperature recorded was 26.4°C, while daytime temperatures could rise up to 36°C.

Additionally, rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds are forecasted for southeastern districts of Sindh. Isolated heavy rainfall is predicted in areas including Khairpur, Tharparkar’s Mithi, Islamkot, Nagarparkar, Chachro, Dhali, Diplo, Kaloi, Umerkot, Mirpur Khas, Sanghar, Matiari, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Thatta, Badin, and Sajawal from the night of October 1st through October 3rd.
